Will AI Replace Copywriters? I Asked Chat GPT Itself - Here’s What it Said
Hey friend! Maybe you’re a copywriter or an aspiring copywriter.
Or maybe you’re someone who’s debating if you should hire a copywriter for your website, blog, social media, etc., or use AI instead.
Well, either way, I’m here to talk about the big elephant in the room.
Ya know, that big AI elephant standing in the corner.
Because it’s 2025… and with AI on the rise (getting better by the day) everyone seems to have the same questions-
“Is AI going to take over??”
“Is AI going to replace jobs??”
And if you’re a copywriter…
“Is AI going to replace copywriters??”
I get it, I’ve asked these questions myself. It’s scary when you think about all the unknowns.
But majority of *talented* copywriters out there already know AI won’t be replacing us.
Why? Because copywriting is more than just writing. There’s so much that goes into writing effective copy that actually works and sells.
So much has to be done before you can even begin writing… like:
Getting to know the brand, the person behind it, and their target audience on a deep level (through in-depth questionnaires).
Understanding their specific struggles, desires, and goals.
Doing in-depth competitor research.
Doing market and SEO research.
Taking design into consideration, by putting the finalized copy in an organized, easy to understand wireframe (rather than a word doc).
But of course, I understand it from your perspective. It’s expected that every copywriter out there is going to say-
“Heck no! AI will never replace us copywriters!”
Because, well, it’s our job, it’s how we make money. If AI *was* better than us or going to replace us, we’re not going to shout that from the rooftop!
So, I thought to myself… well, if you don’t believe me, then who better to ask than AI itself, right?
Afterall, AI has no reason to lie.
It doesn’t respond with emotion or have bias opinions.
It responds based off logic and facts.
So, here’s what Chat GPT had to say when I asked if AI will replace copywriters. ↓
Response from Chat GPT when I asked if AI will replace copywriters.
Go ahead and ask Chat GPT yourself.
As you can see, AI will never replace *good*, *talented* copywriters.
Because there’s so many things that make up effective copy for websites, sales pages, blog posts, emails, social media, etc.
I’m talking copy that actually:
Properly communicates the value of your offer.
Makes you stand out from your competition.
Shows off the *real* you.
Authentically represents your one-of-a-kind brand persona.
Attracts your target audience/keeps them engaged.
Emotionally resonates with your dream clients/customers, speaking to their real-life pain, struggles, current situation, as well as their goals and desires.
Proves why your offer is the perfect solution for them.
Communicates why you’re a perfect match for them over your competitors.
Compels action and sells without sounding generic, ‘cookie cutter’, or ‘salesy’.
But, here’s the thing… if you were to ask me…
“Will AI replace *some* copywriters eventually?”
Well... if I’m being 100% honest, yeah, of course it will (and Chat GPT agrees).
AI will replace copywriters that are doing the bare minimum and not putting in the work.
Or copywriters that are handing over generic copy to their clients while charging a decent chunk of change.
Because AI *can* write basic, generic copy. So why would anyone pay for that when they can get it for free?
But if a business owner or entrepreneur actually cares about the long-term success and growth of their business.
They’re not going to cheap out on AI written copy that isn’t going to deliver quality results.
‘Will AI Replace Copywriters?’ Conclusion.
Long story short friend… AI is NOT going to replace *talented* copywriters that understand what it takes to deliver custom, high-quality, conversational, SEO-optimized copy that delivers results.
-Well, that is unless AI becomes hyper self-aware and can understand/feel human emotion and think for itself… but at that point, I think we’ll have much bigger problems to worry about anyway (yikes)!-
However, I will say… AI is still a part of our new reality, and it isn’t going anywhere.
So, as copywriters and/or content writers, we shouldn’t try to ignore it or beat it.
We should be working with it and using it to our advantage. To make us and our work even better!
And no, I obviously don’t mean using it to write for us.
I mean using it for help with research.
Or using it to help us brainstorm.
Or to get helpful suggestions.
Which I currently do myself.
Remember, AI is only our enemy if we allow it to be and don’t keep up with it. But if we walk side by side with it and embrace it, it will only make us better at what we do and make our lives a little easier.
And if you think about it, every piece of technology we have and use today was also once seen as a threat by lots of people.
But in reality, we’ll adapt to the times and grow with them just like we always have. Until it inevitably becomes the new normal, and the new way of doing things.
AI is no different, It’s just new and foreign to us right now!
But anyway, I hope this was helpful friend!
And if you’ve been curious -or worried- about AI replacing copywriters, I hope this put your mind to ease.
