Why Hire a Copywriter in 2025? (The 6 Major Benefits)

The hands of a woman typing on a laptop.

If you’re a hard working small business owner, entrepreneur, or freelancer you might be asking yourself… should I hire a copywriter? What are the benefits if I do?

Whether it’s hiring a copywriter for your website, sales page, email, or even blog. You want to know if it’s worth it, right?

Because right now, you’re doing everything in your power to achieve long-term success (I mean, you didn’t escape the corporate world for nothing)!

You’ve worked too damn hard and you’re ready to grow your business beyond word of mouth.

You want to take things to the next level. You want to effortlessly attract more of your ideal clients/customers, stand out from your competition, and make more sales!

I get it!

And in 2025 where AI and Chat GPT seem to be the talk of the town, it can be hard deciding if hiring a copywriter is worth it over using AI for free.

So… you’ve been wondering if hiring a copywriter is really the right solution for your goals and why you should consider it.

You want to know why and how it will benefit your business long-term. Or… if it’s just a big waste of money.

I mean… why hire someone to just ‘write’, because anyone can ‘write’, right? (sorry for that Dr. Seuss sounding sentence).

Well… wrong!

So, why should you hire a copywriter?

Let’s get into it!

Then… you can decide if it’s right for you and your current situation.

(spoiler alert, I’m a copywriter myself, so I’d like to think I know a thing or two on the topic).

So, buckle up and let’s get into it friend!

1 - Attract more of your target audience through SEO (search engine optimization).

When you hire a copywriter who’s specialized in SEO (for things like your website, sales page, blog, or social media) it’s going to help increase your organic website traffic and online ranking.

This is incredibly important if you want to attract more of your target audience and get more visibility. Without proper SEO-optimization your target audience will have a hard time finding you.

Especially if you’re not showing up on page one or even two of Google search results.

And considering 75% of people don’t scroll past the first page of Google, this could negatively impact your business a lot!

Most talented copywriters are going to know all about SEO.

However, if you hire a copywriter (especially for your website) who is not specialized in SEO, I recommend hiring an SEO expert alongside your copywriter.

Because having SEO-friendly copy is just as important as having high-quality copy that engages your target audience and compels action.

You need both in order to grow your business and attract the right people!

2 - Land your dream clients and make more consistent sales.

Hiring a copywriter helps with not only attracting your target audience, but compelling them to take action.

Copywriters are skilled in writing copy that-

  • Authentically represent your one-of-a-kind brand persona.

  • Makes your stand out among your competition.

  • Speaks the language of your target audience.

  • Properly communicates the value of your offer.

  • Shows why you and your offer are the one and *only* option for your audience.

In order for your copy to compel your dream clients to take action, it needs to be conversational rather than ‘cookie cutter’.

It needs to be convincing and sell without the sleaziness of sounding ‘salesy’.

Copywriters know how to write copy that emotionally resonates with your audience while staying true to your brand persona and who you are.

Because the thing is, people don’t buy things based off logic or facts, they buy things based off emotion.

And there’s a method to writing copy that’s the perfect combination of being emotionally engaging while being clear and authoritative at the same time.

Your copy needs to speak to the wants, needs, and challenges your target audience is currently facing. And then, properly communicate why *your* offer is the perfect solution for them.

It needs to show why your process and approach is different and better than your top competitors.

It also needs to show off your personality, the things that make you *you*. Showing why you’re a perfect match for your dream clients.

Your copy should be making your dream clients think -

“Wow, they really get me and understand what I want! And they also seem super cool! And they also know their shit! I want what *they* have to offer!”

This is something that AI simply can’t accomplish or pull off with perfection.

Because copy only works when it isn’t generic or sounds like everyone else. Your copy needs to make you stand out and it needs to emotionally click with your target audience on a deep level.

After all, you’re a human trying to connect with another human… enough said.

So, with the help of a talented copywriter, your target audience should easily find your website, sales page, blog, or social media, due to SEO.

And once they do, your copy should *instantly* resonate with your dream clients, keep them engaged, and compel them to take action.

3 - Get custom copy that’s tailored to you, your needs, and your goals.

A copywriter does much more than just write.

Because in order to write copy that’s tailored to reflect your brand persona/business, to attract your target audience, and to achieve your exact goals, there’s an in-depth process behind it all.

In fact, they’ll never begin writing your copy until they have a perfect understanding of-

  • You, your business, and your brand persona.

  • Where you’re currently at in your business.

  • Where you want to be in your business.

  • Where you’re thriving and where you’re struggling.

  • Who your target audience is.

  • Who your *ideal* clients/customers are (a.k.a. who you actually want to work with).

  • Who your top competitors are.

  • What your goals are.

  • What goals you’re hoping to achieve specifically with your new copy.

  • Etc.

This way, the copy they write for you is specifically crafted to meet you where you’re at and reach your goals.

When you decide to hire a copywriter, the two of you will have constant communication from beginning to end to ensure your copy is set up for success.

From the first discovery call to find out if the two of you are a good fit to work together.

To the kick-off call where they’ll have an in-depth questionnaire prepared to better understand the things I listed above as well as the project scope of work.

Not to mention the communicate during the project process (mainly via email) to give you updates, answer any questions you may have, and/or hear your input or ideas.

Once they send you the first draft of your copy, they’ll typically give you two free rounds of edits. So you can know with certainty that you’ll be getting exactly what you want and need by the end of it.

Also, if you decide to hire a copywriter for your website or sales page, more likely than not they’ll collaborate with your graphic designer if you’d like.

For the purpose of making sure your website copy and design fit together with perfection and work hand in hand to benefit your business.

4 - Stay within your budget and save money by paying per project.

When you work with a freelance copywriter specifically, you don’t typically pay them hourly, but rather by the project (which is much more preferable).

Though every copywriters prices and packages will be different, most copywriters will typically have all of that displayed on their website.

So you can browse around for the copywriter that falls within your needs and budget.

For example, as a website copywriter myself my services include writing three pages of SEO-optimized website copy (Home, About, Product/Service) for $1,500.

Or another example is my blog writing services which start at $400 per blog article.

I also allow the option to make customizations or add-ons to the project scope of work if necessary, along with payment plan options.

You’ll find this is fairly typical with most freelance copywriters.

But considering I specialize in writing copy for creative entrepreneurs, small business owners, and others alike. I try and keep my prices more affordable in general.

I also want my clients to have the freedom to make changes or add-ons to the project scope of work if it better fits their needs and budget (all within reason of course).

This is why when you’re searching for a copywriter, stalking their website first is very important.

Every copywriter is going to charge different depending on their level of experience, expertise, what they specialize in, etc.

Regardless though, when you find a freelance copywriter that falls perfectly within your needs and budget you’ll know exactly what you’re getting and what you’ll be paying.

Never get more or less than what you need, and have the peace of mind knowing you can afford it before work begins.

(And for the record, most copywriters offer payment plan options if you can’t afford to pay in full.)

5 - Continually grow and benefit your business when you hire a copywriter long-term.

When you find and work with a copywriter that delivers high-quality work, is reliable, and enjoyable to work with, who says it has to be a one and done type of situation!?

If you find a copywriter that you love, you can choose to work with them long-term. Have them on speed dial for whenever you need new copy!

Say you want to add a new page to your website.

Or you need a sales page for the new service, product, or course you just launched.

Or maybe you’ve got a new idea for a freebie or ebook.

Reach out to your trustworthy, go-to copywriter to make your new vision a reality!

Or on the other hand, you can always set up an arrangement with your copywriter to write fresh, new, consistent copy/content for you regularly.

For example, you can have your copywriter write your weekly email newsletter for you.

Or a weekly social media post for your instagram.

Or a weekly blog article for your websites blog page.

Or heck, it could also be a monthly thing if weekly feels a little too much for you.

This way you can make sure your business is continually growing from the consistent blog articles, emails, social media posts, etc., that are reaching your target audience, increasing your organic website traffic, building your brand authority, and making you new sales.

Eliminating the risk of losing the attention of your target audience by keeping your brand front of mind over your competition.

Plus it’s a great way to nurture your relationship with past, present, or future clients.

Because your building trust, continually engaging with them, and constantly showing them the value of your offer and the knowledge you have.

This can help you long-term by making sure you never miss out on a new sale opportunity. It’s also great for convincing potential clients to move forward with your offer if they were on the fence about it before.

Having a reliable, trustworthy, talented copywriter in your corner at all times is incredibly valuable for the long-term success of your business.

So find one that not only writes amazing, effective copy but that you also click with as a person and enjoy working with!

Want a tip? The best way to find out if you’re going to click well with a copywriter (before you even decide to reach out to them), is by checking out their websites About page!

Any talented copywriter knows that an About page (when done right) is all about building trust and getting to know the real person behind the screen.

So never skimp out on stalking their About page!

It could very well be the reason you find your ‘perfect match’ copywriter.

6 - Gain a teammate and a problem solver.

Maybe you’re well aware that your business isn’t where you’d like it to be.

Maybe your website isn’t attracting your target audience.

Or maybe it is, but they aren’t sticking around for long and they’re not moving forward with your offer.

Maybe those that are moving forward with your offer aren’t your *ideal* clients.

Or… maybe people aren’t opening your emails. Or they’re not clicking on the CTA (call to action) inside of your email.

Bottom line, you’re not sure how to fix these problems or what the problem even is.

But when you hire a copywriter, you don’t always need to be 100% sure what you want or need.

When you and your copywriter jump on a discovery call, you can present them with the problem you’re facing and what your ultimate goals are.

They will also browse your current website copy… or email copy… or social media copy… and help you figure out what exactly the problem is, and know exactly what needs fixing.

The discovery call you have with a copywriter is to determine if the two of you are a good fit to work together.

It’s to determine if their services can help you and achieve your goals, or if maybe you would benefit better from something else if your copy doesn’t appear to be the actual problem.

Also, most copywriters offer more than just done-for-you services.

Depending on your needs you can find a copywriter that offers things like website copy audits (to help improve your current website copy for better results instead of getting brand new website copy from scratch).

Or DIY services as well (like DIY SEO or courses for example).

Plus if you decide to work with your copywriter long-term (like we talked about earlier), you’ll have a teammate their to help you whenever you need help brainstorming solutions or if you’re simply unsure of what you need in terms of copy, SEO, or something else.

‘Why Hire a Copywriter?’ Conclusion.

Copywriting is an art form, and there is a strategic method behind it if you want it to actually work for you.

A good copywriter, isn’t simply someone who’s a ‘naturally talented writer’ (though that plays a role of course).

A *good copywriter* is one who understands how to write copy that-

  • Is SEO-optimized in order to attract your target audience/increase your organic website traffic, while simultaneously sounding conversational rather than ‘robotic’ or bland.

  • Properly communicates the value of your offer.

  • Speaks the language of your target audience, emotionally resonating with their problems, life, needs, goals, etc.

  • Sells without sounding ‘salesy’ or generic.

  • Keeps your target audience engaged and compelled to take action.

  • Reflects your unique brand persona, making you stand out among your competition (which will attract like-minded clients that you actually want to work with).

  • Etc.

In reality, any business owner (big or small) would benefit greatly from working with a copywriter.

Because the messaging surrounding your business plays a HUGE role when it comes to your long-term success and growth. So it’s something that should never be neglected (or put into the hands of Chat GPT).

I promise, when you hire a talented copywriter that knows what they’re doing, it’s going to pay for itself *many* times over and you’ll receive a great ROI (return on investment).

It’s all about finding the right copywriter for you and your business. One that clicks with you, offers exactly what you need, and falls within your budget.

But anywho, if you’ve been wondering why hiring a copywriter is still beneficial in 2025, I sincerely hope this article answered all of your questions.

Best of luck on your journey to success!

Until next time friend.

‘Why Hire a Copywriter in 2025?’ FAQ

How much does it cost to hire a copywriter?

Every copywriter is going to charge different. Depending on their level of experience, expertise, what they specialize in, etc. However, if you’re hiring a copywriter for your website for example, it can cost anywhere from $800 to $10,000 depending on how many pages of website copy you get.

For reference, my prices start at $1,500 for three pages of website copy (Home, About, Product/Service). As well as $400 per blog article.

How do you hire a copywriter?

You could look for a copywriter on places like Fiverr, Upwork, or LinkedIn. However I recommend against it. The best way to hire a copywriter is to do a Google search. Try searching things like “website copywriter” or “website copywriting services” or “copywriting services” or “freelance copywriter” and so on.

Browse through the website of a copywriter to get a good understanding of what they offer, what their process is like, what they’re like as a person (a.k.a. what they would be like to work with), and what they charge. Then you will typically fill out the form they have on their contact page.

You might also have luck finding a copywriter on Instagram as well. Try searching for one and checking out their instagram page (they typically will always have a link to their website as well).

Who needs a copywriter?

If you’re a small (or large) business owner, entrepreneur, or freelancer who needs help with the copy/content surrounding your brand and you’re ready to grow and achieve long-term success, I would say you need a copywriter. If you need words that sell (for your website, sales page, email, blog, direct mail, etc.) you need a copywriter.

When should I hire a freelance copywriter?

You should hire a freelance copywriter when you’re at a place in your business where-

  • You’re ready to grow, attract more of your target audience, and make consistent sales.

  • Your current website is not working for you, it’s not doing you or your brand justice, it’s not selling, and it’s time for an upgrade to see better results.

  • You’re not seeing results from your email newsletter, or social media posts, or blog, etc., and you need help improving the copy/content to see better results.

  • You need help with SEO and the copy surrounding your business and you’re not sure how to DIY.

  • You need help properly communicating the value of your offer and winning over your dream clients.

  • Etc.
